|A Toltec View
of the "Predator"
from "The Active Side of Infinity" by Carlos Castaneda
The Nagual, Don Juan, discusses a predator that exists in the depths of the cosmos and
rules the lives of humans, holding them as their prisoners
“The sorcerers of ancient Mexico saw the predator. They called it the flyer because it
leaps through the air. It is not a pretty sight. It is a big shadow, impenetrably dark, a
black shadow that jumps through the air. Then, it lands flat on the ground.
Don Juan and Castaneda spoke of inorganic beings as energetic awarenesses in the
cosmos that don’t have form. The Predator is the most common of these and has
instilled us with its mindset in order to harvest our awareness as food to sustain itself.
Other inorganic beings reside in our “airspace” or alternate realities or in our minds
(foreign installation). They feed off of fear because fear brings up the strongest emotion
making it easy to recognize due to the extremely large aura it produces. Other inorganic
beings are magnetized to this fear and feed incessantly, if they are allowed.
Don Juan goes on to further explain that we are food for this energetic awareness and
that in the same way that we raise chickens in chicken coops for food, the predators rear
us in human coops, our coop being the planet earth. The predator is an energy that
flows in the universe and is visible to seers who have enough energy to perceive them.
They appear as fleeting shadows and have also been referred to, by Carlos in The Active
Side of Infinity as Flyers.
This predator not only feeds off of human awareness; it also manipulates humans. Don
Juan said that there are a lot of outside forces controlling people in every moment and
that this control is something that exists outside of the domain of language because these
experiences lie so far beyond syntax.
In the "Active Side of Infiniy," Don Juan, points out the contradiction of “man the
engineer” and the stupidity of his systems of belief and contradictory behaviors. He
goes on to say that sorcerers believe that the predator has given humanity their systems
of beliefs, ideas of good and evil and that they are the ones who set up our hopes and
expectations and dreams of success or failure. All of this and more is the foreign
installation and the mindset was given to us by the predators. As a result, man is living
with an incredibly false mindset that they are unworthy and need to be saved. The
predators inject into the lives of human beings whatever is convenient for them to ensure
a degree of security that acts as a buffer against their own fears of not having enough."
